It's not about what it is - it's about what it can become!

Great things never come from comfort zones.... Jump out of your car and pick up that junk! 😍

What is Upcycling?

Upcycling, also known as creative reuse, is the act of taking a used item that no longer has a purpose and repurposing it into new materials or products of better quality and environmental value. Upcycling represents a variety of processes by which “old” products get to be modified and get a second life as they’re turned into a “new” product.  In other others, upcycling is about materials or items that get to be re-adapted and/or re-purposed in a creative way, and whose lifespan is, therefore, expanded.

What's it got to do with me?

“Creativity is making marvellous out of the discarded.”

I am a self taught upcyclist and have an arts and crafts studio based in London. ‘Upcycling’ is my key business theme. I design and create upcycling projects using tyres, wood, metal, cardboard, old toys etc. I do so because I believe upcycling is a great way to reuse materials and reduce our carbon footprint. Most importantly, it is a very therapeutic feeling to have produced a beautiful creation out of rubbish.

Until recently, I would only make upcycled gifts for friends and family but having received so much appreciation and encouragement from them, it prompted me to “go bigger”. In 2019 I made my first tyre seat using a worn out tyre, nylon ropes and a lot of zeal. I shared it on Facebook and to my amazement, got more than 1k likes and a lot of appreciative comments. That’s precisely the moment when I decided to go full throttle. Since then it has been a roller coaster ride for me and I have gone ahead and created a lot of projects, which I have shared in my portfolio section.  I believe, crafting something which is non functional will serve no purpose and so all the stuff I create has a utilitarian value and is not just a showpiece.  Please do have a look or drop me a line to know more.

I looove what I do! 😊
